How can i exfoliate my lips?

MY LIPS ARE FEELING A BIT ROUGH AND I WANT SOMETHING CONVINIENT AND EASY TO DO AT HOME TO EXFOLIATE MY LIPS. ANY SUGGESTIONS?
Answer:
I can't think of any ingredients you can use at home other than vaseline. I use Blistex, the herbal one that's trasparent light green. I works wonders with chapped skin and softens the rough skin in about 20 minutes and just wipe off the skin with a napkin and then put more on. Vaseline will also help but the blistex has chamomile, jojoba oil and avocado oil.
Ask the Ladies at Sephora counter. They have kits for lips. My wife bought one there and her lips are the best!
my advice is to moisturise it every now and then, particularly before u sleep. U will notice your lips tend to look pouter and softer within days if you moisturise it diligently. For exfoliation u can use an old toothbrush by gently scrubing ur lips to get rid off the flaky old skin and apply lip balm right afterwards. U can also try St Ives Apricot Scrub to scrub your lips.

How can I do a Back Handspring?

This is impossible!! I've tried going into a backbend and then kicking over put I just fall on my head. Everytime I try I fall on my head. HELP!
Answer:
You literally should be just jumping backwards into a handstand. Do NOT try this at home. You need a spotter or you can hurt your neck very seriously. In the meantime there are some drills you can work on at home:

I watch children in my home during the week and I seem to have a hard time relaxing at the end of each day. I tried Yoga but that doesn't seem to work, HELP

Try a relaxting tape or cd.. learn to meditate. My doctor taught me self hypnosis .It works. Read the Power of positive Thinking. And other books by Dr. Norman Vincent Peale.. Change you thinking,Change your Life .
bubble bath, candles, and a book, or some relaxing music
Go for a walk by yourself..take a hot bubble bath..curl up on the couch with a good book..or there's always the good old destresser: a nice glass of red wine!
An ice cold Newcastle. (beer)

How can i deal with shoulder bursitis?

i've gotten the cordizone shot but it isn't helping
Answer:
You need to be sure that it is bursitis and not a damaged rotator cuff. A fluid filled bursis can be drained with a thin hypodermic, by your doctor. A rotator cuff will only improve with surgery. If the bursis is not improved by corticosteroids, and a draining doesn't help, then it also will require surgery. The newer microsurgical techniques have a much faster rate of recovery.
I have this too, and when you rest, and dont do what it is that is causing it, the pain will lighten up. Whatever it is that is causing it, cleaning, exercise, work, take breaks from the movement that you are doing. switch sides or something ever now and then.otherwise, go back to the Dr. there are other causes, somtimes it can be a bacteria that is causing it and only antibiotics will cure it.
Bursitis often affects the areas around the joints in your shoulders, elbows or hips. But you can also have bursitis by your knee, heel and even in the base of your big toe. Bursitis pain usually goes away within a week or so with proper treatment, but recurrent flare-ups of bursitis are common and can be frustrating. How can I deal long-term with sinus headaches?

A couple of weeks ago a regular headache progressed across 4 days until I was in so much pain I was crying, could hardly move. Went back and forth to the doctors and eventually A%26E, they all thought it was sinusitis, but took until I got to A%26E to get decent pain relief. I also had a weeks course of antibiotics which I took. One week later I got another severe headache (worse than migraines which I have suffered from before) which was exactly like the previous one, had to take paracetamol, codeine, diclofenac and tramadol to shift it.It's now 4 days later and it's killing me again. I've taken codeine but feel no better so will have to take tramadol soon which makes me feel like a zombie. What can I do to deal with this long-term? I can't keep knocking back this cocktail of medications.
Answer:
Acupuncture will help you! Don't worry about needles - it's not painful %26 you will get relief very quickly %26 relief that lasts! Good luck
It sounds like you should see your Dr and ask for advice - perhaps there is a small operation that could clear your sinus problem... Good luck, I hope you get this sorted out.
i usually use sea salt water spray to spray into your nose it cleans your nose and usually help me
good luck
One thing I do know is that anything with dairy or bananas is not good for the sinuses. I hope this can be put with any other info you get to find a complete answer. If not look up Dr Colin Barron on google and ask him for some TFT, I used it on two migrain patients and my fiance who has had a sinus infection recently. He didnt need any medicine.Good luck
You should book a free assessment at a chiropractors - they help people with sinus problems all the time. Find a registered one with the General Chiropractic Council website. Good luck.
Wash your face frequently with warm water and soap. Rinse thoroughly with as hot water as you can stand. Spray non medicated saline spray up your nose- tilting your head to each side until you feel the saline run out the other nostril. Keep away from irritants- the things that are causing the sinus- dirt, dust, food allergies, cold air, strong perfumes, cigarette smoke, many pollutants. Eat healthy meals- hot soups with plenty of onions and garlic and peppers (unless the pepper cause problems for you.)
There is an operation that they can do on your sinuses to relieve them. I recently had a sinus infection and the headache for 18 days. Went through 2 courses of antibiotics and that was 2 weeks ago and I still don't feel 100%. There are some weird viruses going around that our antibiotics aren't really killing, its pretty scary. I know how you feel, I felt like I wanted to die. or cut my head off. Take care.
Headaches can be caused by minor problems
like eyestrain, lack of coffee or more serious reasons
like head injury, brain tumors, encephalitis and
meningitis. Taking painkillers continuously can
have harmful side effects, so it is better to
modify your lifestyle. More information available at
If the A%26E has diagnozed it as sinusitis, you will need a more sophisticated medical procedure than Panadol or Tramadol.Such pain indicates that your sinuses are blocked, possibly by stones caused by dried mucous and dust, which is causing the pain. Left untreated, these mucousoid stones can begin affecting your eyes and cause partial to permanent blindness of vision problems.See your GP and ask for any strong decongestant. I used Coricidin-D or Sinutab or Neozep and you can check if these are available in your area. These are over the counter products. If the pain persists, your GP will ask you to undergo an endoscopic procedure for the removal of these mucousoid stones.
can you provide some more detail about the pain of your headaches . I was diagnosed for 6 years with sinusitus later to find out I had cluster headaches. ps not even morphine will shift these ones. With sinusitus you should have green or coloured nasal discharge and the pain shoul last for 8 hours to a couple of days with CH they have unilateral ( one sided )clear nasal dischareg that lasts between 15mins to 3 hours and normally you dont wanna sit down .. infact commonly users are known to bang their head against the floor. If you are going to take 2 types of pills take brufin and coedine as one is from the asprin family and one from the paracetamol family. VERY VERY important not to OD on paracetamol since this will cause organ failiure and ultimately death hard to remember when you are in pain....I really do know since as I say the condition I have is worse than child birth ( 5 to 8 times a night for up to 3 months) but you have to keep it in the back of the head when your rolling around in pain.good luck and wish you pain free days and nights

How can I cure a muscle pain in my leg?

I pulled a muscle slightly a couple of weeks ago on the top of my upper leg. I've put ice on it, tried Deep Heat and rested it but it still hurts when I stretch it and pull my foot up to my backside. Any ideas how to resolve it?
Answer:
Keep using ice and gently massage the effected area periodically.
you said you used deep heat would you try using a gel called bio freeze gel. I used it and found it very good you can buy sample satchets in the pharmacy for trial for about 1 euro it might help to ease the pain
The best pain medicines i have found are Cannabis, Morphine, and Oxycontin
cold for 24 hours and then warm heat after 24 hours
if you put heat on it with in 24 hour you could get a blood clout
It seems that you've been doing well at all the procedures. I think you just need to rest further by not doing any vigorous exercise. Enough rest is good

How can I break my leg or arm?

Please don't laugh but I need to get out of my dancing lessons for a few weeks! lol. How could I do it with out anyone suspecting that I did it on purpose?
Thanx
Answer:
Spraining your foot would be a lot better. or create some kind of foot problem. You don't need to break any bones. Lots of other options available.
Just tell your parents or someone you don't want to dance anymore.
Don't break your leg or arm!Simply tell your parent or guardian you don't want to takedance for a bit - ask nicely.
Wouldn't just playing sick be easier--and less painful? It's not hard to fake a fever, headache, stomach ache, sore throat etc.I broke my arm, at age 9, when playing punchball--I was tripped by another player. My mom broke an arm and a leg, at around the same age, while roller skating.
You REALLY don't want to do that. Not only is it painful, but there can (and generally are) permanent injuries when a bone is broken. You may not be able to dance ever again, and this will affect your life forever, even if it's just a small break. If you're having a problem with your dance lessons, either quit or switch to a new dance school.
Wow. You need help. As in therapy/counseling.Here's an idea. Just say "I don't want to go to dance class." See.isn't that amazing? And you don't have to do something so INSANE as purposely hurting yourself.
Sounds to me that if you need to get out of your dancing lessons for a few weeks, you should be responsible and step up to the plate and tell whomever it is you are trying to deceive why it is that you need out of these lessons.
Injuring yourself on purpose to get out of doing something is absolutely asinine and is completely self destructive both physically and mentally.
I don't know what your reasons are, but clearly you are very serious about wanting out of these dance lessons. If you are brave enough to injure yourself, be brave enough to be a stand up person and do what is right and stand up for yourself and just tell whomever it is that you need time off for a few weeks.
fall down a cement flight of steps
You're insane and widely immature.
jump down 2nd flat. But be careful.you can be finished dancing eternally.
Broken bones can permanently disfigure your body..besides I dont think the PAIN is worth it!
Please don't do that. You could have all kinds of complications, including that you might never be able to walk or dance again. If you really need to get out of dancing lessons, just say so! Or if you can't, come up with some other excuse. But, please, for your own good, don't break your arm or leg.
just fall, or tell your parents, get someone to push u off of something
Oh my gosh don't try to break your arm or leg! Uhh just work at preschool like me and you will catch a cold from the kids in a few minutes and I'm sure your teacher or parents will let you rest after you start coughing and sneezing..ok that wasn't a good answer. But as many people would say, and I know you already know this but I will just say it anyways, don't try to break your arm or leg, I'm sure trying to break your arm or leg just a little bit could do a lot of damage to it. Just be honest.and talk to your parents or teacher about why you don't want to go to dance class if you can...or if someone else has a better answer besides breaking your leg or arms or hurting yourself in any other way, then try that. Just don't purposely hurt yourself!
Just say no to dancing lessons if you don't want them for a few weeks. Breaking your arm or leg could turn out to be an injury that could affect you the remainder of your life; not to mention the horrible pain you'll go through. I just isn't worth it. Again, just don't attend the dancing classes. That would a much easier and safer way to accomplish getting out of them.
Try Riding a bike down the stairs

How can i break my arm?

Im not doing it for attention! Im 13 and i really really wanna break it.
Answer:
Munchausen syndrome is a condition in which a person intentionally fakes, simulates, worsens, or self-induces an injury or illness for the main purpose of being treated like a medical patient. Persons with Munchausen syndrome intentionally cause signs and symptoms of an illness or injury by inflicting medical harm to their body, often to the point of having to be hospitalized. These persons are sometimes eager to undergo invasive medical interventions. They are also known to move from doctor to doctor, hospital to hospital, or town to town to find a new audience once they have exhausted the workup and treatment options available in a given medical setting. Persons with Munchausen syndrome may also make false claims about their accomplishments, credentials, relations to famous persons, etc.A related condition, called Munchausen by proxy syndrome, refers to a caregiver who fakes symptoms by causing injury to someone else, often a child, and then wants to be with that person in a hospital or similar medical setting.
Ur a ******* crazy ******
Get 1 on 1 counselling.
first of all it kills like a MOTHER so just dont...
why the hell would you anyways?
are you crazy??!!
why don't u try to jump from the balcoony..
Why do you want to break your arm? This is crazy.
ok.......try to slepp on it for one month MY freind hada cast cause she slpet on it for a long time cause the blood was stuck
Get a life kid...Your parents should smack you
it hurts. alot. ride your bike into a pole, get hit by a car, jump off a house, skateboard, surf, extreme sports duh.
fall off the monkey bars!!!! thats what i did
u r a bit loony i wouldnt if i were u
Wow, That's a really really good idea.Of course it's not for attention.we all believe you.
Sledgehammer. Somthing heavy. Have someone snap it... Good luck with it. Hope you're good with pain tolerance, cause it hurts like no other.
I wanted to break my arm to get out of swimming of PE. =] I just brought in a letter excusing me from the whole swimming unit! :-) x
umm ok.
you could fall of a slide, thats how i broke my arm..
Why would you want to break your arm? Are you EMO or something? What the hell is wrong with you??? So, your 13, breaking it is not going to get you anywhere.
jump off a wall and land on it
fall out of a tree and land on it
get someone to run it over with their bike.I wanted to break my arm too when i was 13, i never managed it, my brother was forever coming home with broken bones, but then he skateboarded and bmx-ed, I suck on a skateboard and never move more than a foot before i just fall off(!)
YOU ARE VERY SILLY TO THINK THIS!! THINK TOO OF THE EXPENSE TO YOUR PARENTS. GROW UP!! I HOPE YOU HAVE BETTER COMMON SENSE BY THEN.
Why on earth would you want to break your arm?! Anyway, although I'm not sure why, my friend broke it by falling down a flight of stairs and my other friend broke her arm by going on a zipline thing, falling off and twisting her arm backwards. I REALLY don't think this is a good idea. Not only is it painful, but it also is really expensive to get fixed, and very stressful, not to mention that your arm gets really itchy under that cast, and you can't itch it!! Anyway, hope this helps, whatever you need it for...:-)
Well looks like you got all that unwanted attention. You need a good butt kicking.
Why would you want to hurt yourself. I think you need to talk to your parents and let them take you for psychiatric evaluation.
Tell your parents. They should find counseling for you. It's not normal to want to break your own bones.
shouldn't you be asking this in the 'mental health' section?

How can i break my arm?

Answer:
stupid question
armbar!
why in the world would you want to go through the pain of having a broken arm? that is really really stupid. maybe you need to be more concerned with having your head examined.
hit the forearm wiht something hard and heavy, amke sure you have a good insurance plan
Now..Why Would You Want To Do That.If Your Wanting To Get Out Of A Sport Then Wrap It In a Bandage %26 Say You've Sprained It.
why the hell would you want to break your arm?
Why would you want to break your arm? That is a stupid question.
call your doc you need help
jump out of a tree!
Why? Planning on some kind of insurance fraud?
A straight fall from standing. Your arms outstretched, land on them. You will often break your forearm. That's called a Colles fracture.
I'll do it, and I'll also throw in some sever head trauma(you sound like you either need it or have already had it, but need more of it), all for the right fee of course.
i see everyone asking why and just a few have an answer...
i guess a fast action would be the best but i would never do this...
my advice is to do it on your own and not with help, cause you're the only one to say when it's enough
anyway, good luck with it
you must be bored right? if you really want to know i can give you lots of ways to break your arm a nurse at health center here.. so i ll try and see if i can give you some ways... make sure you have good insurance first. or move to canada, where i live .. insurance is in your taxes.. here goes.. you could throw yourself down a flight of stairs, you could get someone to twist it , you could break it the way i did,, roller blading, you could jump in front of a bus, tain, or car, you could ask someone to beat the crap out of you, or you could get drunk(although doesnt sound like your old enough) and fall all over the place.. .. the list goes on and on.. but i think your very immature to want to actually inflict pain like that on yourself.. but sometimes thats how we learn.. so good luck whichever method you choose...
Why would you WANT to?
jump off a building
that a weird question

How can i break my ankle or foot to get a cast?

i want to break my foot, ankle or leg to get a cast on it, i want a cast on my leg bad, can anyone tell me how to injure it so that i can get one?
Answer:
What are you, a little Kid!? It will hurt all the time like you broke it again when you get older, and not even that much older. It will cost your parents money, take time away from those that really need care, and supplies. Live naturally and you will eventually break something. If you are young you should already know that racing on skates, skate boarding tricks, especially when you don't do it well, skiing is a good way to do it. But don't do it. You also can get like sick from your bone breaking if a little pieces of it break off and get into the blood system, it will make you a bit crazy. Or it might be little cells of some kind that arise from a broken bone healing. There also is the risk of losing the limb, infection, permanant loss of use or limited use. It will be forever weaker.
Fall out of a tree. You might die but you will die with a cast on. Go skiing. Especially if you can't ski.
threw something heavy on ur little finger. try to cool it before not to hurt so much. what do u wanna get? best answer?
Is this a joke? people who have had a broke ankle or leg will tell you the pain is always there and most times arthritis sets in and the chances of breaking it again is increased, find some sensible way to fake it, wear a ace wrap loose not too tight and not for long lengths of time.
Weird wish, if I may say so. You expect good answers here?
Why do you have such a self-destructive nature?
you're really lame, seriously why the f--k would you wanna hurt yourself? talking from current experice, it is not fun at all. not being able to walk sucks. you must be really messed up in the head to want a broken foot/leg/ankle "so bad". I D I OT .

How can I become more tolerant to pain?

Answer:
I like the other answers too but I have learned (with back pain and other problems) to do dissociation. I try to think of other things to get it off my mind.
It is like to having a baby and they tell you to concentrate on a fixture on the wall and breath.
It has helped me a lot.
meditation, medication, repetition, desensitization
umm, only way I know is experience...I've had migraines fairly regularly all my life; I have a pretty average pain threshold but my tolerance is higher than seems to be normal... there's probably a level of influence on pain tolerance that's more genetic than anything else, too.my sister's a nurse, so are a few friends of mine; they'll tell you that if you're in pain, the best way to manage it is an appropriate dosage of an equally appropriate medication, as soon as you begin to feel the pain... if you let the pain develop it'll take a higher dosage to take just the edge off than it otherwise would to control it completely.

How can i avoid catching a cold beforei have a rhinoplasty?

I am having a septo-rhinoplasty around July but am worried that i may catch a cold near the time! (They won't perform op if i did)I am pretty prone to this so what can i do to reduce the chances of catching a virus of any sort, and how long before the operation do i need to do this?Thank YouHayley :-)
Answer:
You avoid a cold for this the same way you avoid it any other time. The principal vectors of the cold germ is surface (touching) and air contact (breathing it in). Stay away from crowded and confined situations, and avoid contacting surfaces in public. Frequent hand washing is also a good idea. No guarantees here, but good luck.Oh, and forget vitamins and all that. They may help you recover but they won't shut down the germ or make you immune.A better idea is to find some flexibility with scheduling the procedure so you cancall for it while you know you are well.
Try and avoid being in enclosed places with lots of people, probably for a week before your operation. Good luck
Hi Hayley not.. The Hayley Turner? There is no way to avoid it if that cold virus decides to hone in on you. However you could take vitamin C%26D supplements as a possible preventative measure.
Use that stuff thats called first response. You spray up your nostrils,it costs about 拢5 but I swear it worked for me,the whole family had colds and I used the stuff and didnt catch it.
You can't. It's a virus. And it has no cure.I say, drink lots of orange juice and take Vitamin C every day to maintain a strong immune system. If you do come down with a cold, reschedule your rhinoplasty. Your health is more important than a nose job, dear.
discuss all of your concerns with your surgeon.

How can avoid being drowsy?

I'm a college student, i volunteer part time, and i work part time (on call) and i always feel sleepy...i haven't worked out in a while because it's weird for my schedule...i wake up, eat, and i'm afraid of working out after eating because i'll get stomach cramps. I drink green tea every morning and i live in a place where there's no sunlighthow do i stay awake - without being too tired and worn on? I noticed that the earlier i wake up and do things, the more i'll be mentally awake - compared to waking up around 9 a.m. and just having all that extra time. Advice?
Answer:
are you drinking plenty of water? honestly, water is not only good for your body because your body is mostly made up of water, but it gives you the energy to go on ... maybe you're just not drinking enough. you should be drinking AT LEAST 64 oz a day! drinking teas or energy drinks or supplements or anything is not good enough if you're not giving your body water. it's really that simple sometimes. and you need to get plenty of sleep, too, and exercise. these combined w/ a healthy diet should help tremendously!

How can a lay-person use techniques of monks and secret agents to handle pain?

I am especially interested in using these techniques for chronic pain. Is it possible, or only for acute pain?
Answer:
Here is a list of websites so you can choose which one is best for you.
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en%26amp;q=man...
"To find the answer to this you must climb mountain and watch 007 dvd, Grasshopper"
Meditation is a powerful technique that can help you deal with chronic pain, this is what monks have used for centuries. Yoga stretches are wonderful for strengthening the body, mind and spirit. When you do that you can control many aspects of your life. I've enclosed a link so you can learn meditation. I've also enclosed a link on yoga. Yoga Is best done in a classroom, check your phone book for one in your area.
You are looking for a technique of dissociation. Basically, daydream VERY strongly about something else while the pain is going on.
I DO use dissociation when I realize something is going to be very painful. In my brain, I go to the beach (nearby) and play with my grandson. This is what I, recently, did when the dental surgeon decided to razor my gums, all the way across, cutting them, so that my gum line would be perfectly straight. Then, he put new 'fronts' on my teeth. He said it was the most painful thing he does, so I just told him I would 'go to the beach'. He was in awe, as I used no painkillers at all, no novacaine, nothing at all. Normally, this operation takes about four hours. Mine only took about an hour. I did not swell up, as he expected me to, and I did not bleed, as he expected me to. When I 'came back' my teeth did not hurt, they looked great, and I had zero recovery time at all. I was fine. I like doing this when pain is expected.

How badly do you think my elbow is hurt?

i was running up the stairs and tripped, landing on my elbow
i hit it against the rail and again on the bottom rail on my way down
but i can't bend or unbend wihtout it hurting like hell
theres no bruise and no selling but it huuuurts
what do you think i did?
i hate putting ice on it btw
Answer:
Bad Because youre not putting ice on it
You might have a sprained ligament. You may want to go to the doctors and have them x-ray you elbow to get some results
if it throbs that means it is broken. I would see a doctor just to be sure. if not wait a couple of days if it still hurts i would say go see a doctor though.
i say take it to a doctor. it may begin to swell, or it could get infected. you may have sprained or fractured your elbow. you may HAVE to put it on ice until you can get to the doctor. good luck!

How bad is to take Vicodin on a daily basis?

I have pain going up and down my leg and have been taking Vicodin quite a lot lately. Is it bad for me? It seems to be the only thing that makes the pain go away. Any advice?
Answer:
Yes, it is bad for you. Try to go as long as you can with out it. If you take to much of it, one thing that will happen is that sooner or later it won't help you. Also it will take sometime, but if you take it long enough then it will eat through ur stomach lining. Try to use it as little as possible, it is very very strong.
You're addicted to it. Take motrin instead.
Physical therapy.
Let's put it this way, if it were healthy, your body would produce it daily.
yeah its bad, and you probly shouldnt take it much longer, maybe look for alternative therapies?
besides making you a complete dope, it can wreck you liver big time. think of your live as a huge irreplaceable water filter for your blood. too many chemicals and your filter's shot!
You need to start tapering off of it and use something else that isn't addicting.
you can get addicted to it and when you stop taking it feel like you need it just to feel normal.
I would cut back and take the pain a little bit. I know someone addicted to vicodin and even cut his leg just to go to the doctor and get vicodon for the pain. And he was depressed without taking it.
So dont get hooked on it.
If your in pain then its fine to take. If your taking it to get high then you might have a problem. I'd be careful that stuff is addictive. If you think you might be abusing it i'd stop now before you get in to deep!
It's bad to take it everyday
because it causes you to have a dependence on it
resulting in addiction
try lesser pain relievers
and go to a doctor to see what you can do about the pain
If it is prescribed for you, you can take it as the dr says. If you are taking another's meds, that's a no-no.
It can be addictive. However, if you take your medication as prescribed by your physician, you should be OK. You might want to discuss any concerns about the addictive qualities of Vicodin with your physician the next time you see him/her.
if you take it too much it will cause your heart to enlarge and could lead to some serious problems. if you doctor prescribed it to you then take it only as directed. if you abuse it, it will cause some bad side effects. if you are really worried you should talk to your doctor.
Rather then medicating yourself go to the doctor or chiropractor and get the problem fixed.
I use to take 6, 325mg vicodin twice a day back when I was 17 (I'm 20 now) and before you think addiction, it wasn't because I just up and quit one day I just enjoyed em lot but I wouldn't advise doing that, its bad for you.
Sound like you might have sciatica, the nerve running through your leg. Go to a chiropractor and get it treated. All medication has a long term effect especially if abused.
Vicodin is addictive, very much so. Try alternative therapy and ask your doctor. There are natural herbs to take that will help with pain that are just as effective and non addictive. Natures Rememdy makes a pain reliever. The Internet is a information highway. Remember what you put in your body has a effect on your total well being, and you do not want to become dependent on any thing. Meditation is a very good tool also. There are more options out there!
I take it one a regular basis, the only concern my doc had was addiction, I've been on it for 5 years he's no longer worried about addiction. Please consult your doc.
It's bad , my father is an addict on Vicodin..he thinks that he is in pain...the Doctors for years have been trying to get him off, but every time they come to him , he goes to another doctor that will supply it ...All of his family , including his kids have abandoned him, because he addicted to them and he will do anything to get a fix...so please use anything other than narcotics to ease your pain.
I had knee surgery years ago, and ended up with the Vicodin routine. One or two a day was a bit habit-forming, though I never developed the need for it that some people do. It made it hard to go to the bathroom, kept me awake at night, and gave me freaky nightmares, but I didn't shake or panic if I ran out.I didn't really have any trouble getting off of it when the pain lessened, but a lot of people do. I still take it occasionally (I'm a human barometer, so when the wind blows, or it gets cold, my knee goes nuts!), but again, I don't have trouble with it.I used to be an undercover cop who enforced prescription drug laws. Vicodin was the most common drug of abuse I saw, so I know it can be addictive. I also know that the Tylenol it contains can be bad for you in big doses, or when combined on a regular basis with alcohol.I finally got a lot of relief when I found a doctor and a chiropractor who actually took the time to figure out some useful exercises for my leg instead of handing me another prescription.
its bad vicodin is habit forming you don't want to get hooked on that
iT ALL depends on how bad your pain is and if u really need it. People who have really chronic severe pain and REALLY need it usually do not get addicted. People who do it for recreation DO!!! I have severe scoliosis and had to have my lumber fused....bc of my bad back i had to have minor knee surgery so that i could do rehab when i had a total hip replacement in Jan. 11th, 07...the hip is fine but my back still hurts alot......i take 5 or 6 Lortab 10/500 a day plus soma, xanex and Ambeim CR 12.5 for sleep. Just recently my doctor put me on the Fentynal patch 100mcg...so yes, that is alot but i STILL hurt.i will never be painfree! So it all depends on what kind of pain u have and the reason u take it.......... know people who take more narcotics than this!!!!!! Good luck and GOD BLESS!
Personally I would try not to take vicodin every day for the simple fact that you will become addicted to it...I would try a chiroprator or physical therapy.I would also talk to my doctor to try and find an alternative medicine.Good luck
Unfortunately it is very addictive. Unfortunately it does not take the pain away, rather it blocks the nerve receptors in your brain so that you don't feel it. This can also be bad in that you could hurt yourself more by doing something strenuous and hurt it more because you aren't able to feel it strain. Ask your doctor for other solutions besides constant medication, especially something like vicodin when it is so addictive. It is so easy to become a prescription addict today, SO BE CAREFUL!

How bad does staples hurt when they come out?

I have about 25-30 staples located on the bottom of my right and left sides of my ankle/leg. Do staples hurt more then stiches or vise versa?
Answer:
Trust me, you are worrying for nothing! I had a hysterectomy and had staples across the entire front of my abdomen. When the dr. removed the staples I was petrified! He took one out and I had my head turned and didn't even know that he had did it! After that I just watched the rest of them come out. It's hard to believe that it don't hurt but really it just feels like they are touching you. It's unbelievable, really! I have never had stitches so I cannot compare stiches/staples. Good luck and DO NOT WORRY! :)
I had staples after my c-section and i swear tearing off the tape hurt worse than the staples coming out.
staples are a lot less painful than you think. I'd prefer staples rather than stitches. You are getting all nervous for nothing. I'm a big wimp when it comes to pain, I have no pain tolerance at all. Hope you get better soon.
They have the tool to take it out and it spreads the staple so it really does not hurt...Had lots removed from ear surgery and they were out before I knew it...
no, to me staples hurt less than stitches coming out. it's not as bad as you think, so relax as much as possible when you have them removed. talk to someone and don't watch, and it'll be over before you know it.
take care!
They don't hurt at all, it might sting a little, but trust me, I had 8 surgeries, 6 of them with staples, you will be surprised how little you feel.
You'll be OK

How are medical and hospital waste beeing treated? (Please read details)?

I have a research to do on how the hospital wastes are treated. And what are the dangers of disposing these wastes in the environment? If you can provide details and online resources, that would be great, thank you for your help.
Answer:
Wastes are generally incinerated. Some waste goes to the sewage system. Medical sharps may go back to be remelted.
Defacation and Osmoregulation goes to the toilet. Soiled linen is sent to the cleaners in the hospital. Medicines-Old etc get incinerated past there use date. Tools, knives are cleaned in a washer that gets vary hot or sometimes in an oven. Waste that is infective or transmits any problems gets incinerated. Waste streams are recorded monthly-those of interest.

Hour many hours of stretching/exercise will it take to have an inflexible person be flexible in 2 months?

I need an estimate of hours..what do you think? And what type of exercise will increase flexibility A LOT?
Answer:
Stretching is as much a "quality" question as a "quantity" question. Your muscles don't like to stretch when they're cold, so be sure to do 5-10 minutes of walking, biking - anything to get your blood pumping - before you try to stretch. Next, you need to hold stretches for a minimum of 30 seconds in order to make a difference in tissue length. It takes that much time for all the tissue fibers to get the message and start to lengthen. Yoga is a great option because it increases strength as well as flexibility, but just a general stretching program will work as well. If you web search for "stretching" you'll likely find some stretches to get you started. Remember: warm muscles, take it slow. And don't push too far too fast - when you feel your muscles start to resist, don't push further. Respect your body's limits. And good luck!
Go to a daily or every other day yoga class. That should get you more flexible.
go to a beginners yoga class. They'll keep you from over doing it, and help you work towards your goal!

Hot or cold for pinched nerve in neck?

i have been told hot works. then ive been told cold works. then some say to do both off and on. i really could use some help here deciding. and then along with some kind of exercise or massage. would that be any help or not?
Answer:
Cold.Then go to a chiropractor.
hot coz it increases the blood flow.
In sports, athletes are generally treated for this and many other types of soft tissue injuries with alternative heat and cold, plus message, TENS unit (electrical stimulation), and whirlpool treatment as well -- in other words, different modes of treatment. If your neck is really uncomfortable, ibuprofen (400 or 600 mgs) can really help.

Hospital Nutrician?

My mother recently and very reluctently went into hospital in Bristol. I worked in the NHS for 15 years and I'm not sure why I was so shocked considering, but why is it that basic necessities such as food is so disgusting nowadays. For example, one day as an alternative to the salad that she requested, she was given mashed potatoe which had acquired a skin, corned beef pie, broccoli, carrots and baked beans. This was followed by a yoghurt that was four days out of date! Needless to say, the food was, as the majority of meals on the ward, returned and I presume thrown out. Such a waste and as nutrician is such an important part of recovery, very worrying. The smell of hospitals has changed over the years from the "anti-sceptic clean aroma, to overcooked mixed veg.ugh!
Answer:
When I had my children 5 and 6 years ago, I was appalled by the quality of the food, and also the serving sizes. Considering I was pregnant / breastfeeding and needed extra calories I barely got enough to suppress my hunger. I was also given no assistance when I asked staff to bring me some breakfast as I had been awake for 36 hours without food, after being induced due to pre-eclampsia and my daughter had hardly stopped crying. When I went to get some cold toast I was told I wasn't allowed to take her in the room.Since then I have trained as a Nurse and found the situation seems to have got worse. My trust frequently changed caterers due to complaints about poor quality. Staff were told it was a severe disciplinary offence to eat any of the food, leftover or not. Obviously this was to prevent patients from being denied food to feed the staff. Although I can safely say I would not have eat any of the food even if it was provided for me. I often came across patients whose lunch had been left out of their sight or reach and were not capable of feeding themselves. When you fed a patient you were frequently called away for something "more important". On the other end of the spectrum my childrens school dinners are a vast improvement to what I recieved as a child. But I fail to see why the NHS can not manage the same standard. Yes children need nutritious food, but so do the sick, if not more. They should bring in someone like Jamie Oliver, although preferably less annoying.
totally agree I too am a nurse in a large city hospital my ward is close to the kitchen which makes you want to be sick the smell from it
sorry but complain to the ward sister and hospital manager
take your own food in for your mum

Horrible Low Back Pain! Please HELP!?

I have been having lower back pain for 6 months. The pain is unbarable to the point where I can't walk. The pain starts in my lower back, just left of my spine, goes down my hip, and down my leg. Ive been to 4 doctors ((including the chiropractor and orthapedic doctor)) and I have been in physical therapy. The pain is just the same as when it first started to hurt. I've had xrays and no fractures have shown up. My orthapedic doctor doesnt know what it is and sent me home w/ celebrex, which didnt work, so now im on vicatine. The vicatine doesnt even help with the pain. Has anyone had these symptoms, and if so can you please give me any idea of what it could be, at this point I am trying to find another doctor to go to.
Answer:
This sounds to me like a nerve problem, like there may be a nerve being pinched or irritated some way. Your chiropractor should have been able to help you. I would try another one and see a doctor (an MD) that specializes in pain management.
go to the doctor
It sounds like you have sciatica pain. Several years ago, I had the same pain and went to several doctors too, until I found the right chiropractor which gave me only one adjustment and it went away right away. I had another friend with similar problems and her chiropractor also fix her pain in one visit. I found out that not all chiropractors know how to correct this pain. You need to interview several chiropractors asking them if they had patients having similar pain and can they correct it in one to 3 visits. If they know what you are talking about then try them otherwise find someone else. Sciatica pain is caused by the pinching of the sciatica nerve that goes through your hip, usually caused by lots of stress. So good stress management, massage (the psoas muscle), rolfing also help. Drugs may help but also can come with side effects. Good luck.
sounds like sciatica. it is the pain caused by a pinched sciatic nerve. go to web md and look up the symptoms. i was a nurse at an urgent care center and this sounds classic. find a pain management doctor like the one i go to that specializes in chronic pain. most other docs these days don't like to prescribe heavy duty pain meds when someone needs them. ask for a referral to a pain management doc. hope this helps. take care.
There is no medicine for these problems. Therefore we have no other way than to go for such Alternatives.
Our merunivarak Therapy treats back pain within 10 minutes also.
YOG (Meditation) is also a better option.
Acupuncture is a good option. Surgery the last.
Pain killers kill the patient and not the pain, avoid them.

Answer:
http://www.customhookahs.com/i know a guy that goes to some place that they all sit around and smoke from hookah pipes its like a hookah bar they have diff. kinds of tabacco products that they put in them, diff. flavors and stuff
A hookah pipe is a pipe with tubes coming from it so more than one person can smoke at a time. Mine is filled with Mary Jane ;-) , but I think they are "supposed" to be filled with tobacco

Homemade remedies?

My 2 year old stepped on a toothpick about a week ago, and there is still a piece of wood in the bottom of her foot. Its not an angry red color, just swollen where the toothpick entered the foot. She will not allow me to touch it, and I have heard soaking the area in epsom salt will help draw out the rest of the splinter, and also have heard soaking it in milk will help. Any other suggestions would be great!
Answer:
get a pin and take it out the good old fashioned way before your childs foot gets infected. "She will not allow me to touch it" sounds like bad parenting to me. You are the boss and for your childs on well being you should act like it!
paint her foot with nail polish and let her peel it off when dry=if the toothpick doesn't come out then take her to the hospital =she could get a bad infection
Epsom salts will help draw it out if there is an infection. You say there is no infection, so that probably wouldn't work very well. However, if you can get her to soak her foot for a good long while in warm water, you may be able to pop the toothpick out without having to dig for it. But this shouldn't be a case of her 'not allowing' you to touch it. There are times when a child simply has to do what they are told and this is one of them. That splinter has to come out. If she won't cooperate, then take her to the doctor and have it done under a local anesthetic.
Cut off a small piece of bacon fat and wrap it up over the splinter over night. The bacon fat has a drawing affect and should pull it out. You may have to repeat it the next night. Or you can just buy some Prid Salve it's dark tar looking stuff, but is the best at making wounds heal fast and also has a drawing affect! I've used it since I was a kid! You may want to think about the fact that you are allowing your 2 yr old to run things! She won't allow you??? You know it will not hurt a kid to make them cry, or get mad. You are supposed to be in charge, not her! This time you may find another way, but what if you couldn't? At some point you are going to HAVE to make your child do WHAT YOU SAY, NOT WHAT THEY WANT! Good Luck!
Cuts or tears in tissue (lacerations), scrapes (abrasions), and puncture wounds can be caused by bites (see Bites and Stings: Introduction) or other injuries. Wounds that are not caused by bites usually heal rapidly without any problems. However, some wounds can cause extensive blood loss. Others can become complicated by infection or injury to deeper structures, such as nerves, tendons, or blood vessels. A piece of foreign material can also remain hidden inside a puncture wound._ _ _ _First-Aid TreatmentThe first step in treating a cut is to stop the bleeding. Visible bleeding can almost always be stopped by firmly compressing the bleeding area with a finger or hand for at least 5 minutes. Whenever possible, the bleeding part is elevated above the level of the heart鈥攆or example, by raising a limb. Because tourniquets shut off all blood flow to a body part and deprive it of oxygen, they are rarely used.To prevent infection, dirt and particles are removed and the wound is washed. Large, visible particles are picked off. Smaller dirt and particles that cannot be seen are removed by washing with mild soap and tap water. Dirt and particles that remain after washing often can be removed with a more highly pressured stream of warm tap water. Harsher agents, such as alcohol, iodine, and peroxide, are not recommended. These solutions can damage tissue, impairing the capacity to heal. Scrubbing is required to clean deep scrapes. After cleaning, antibiotic ointment and a bandage are applied. If a wound is very small, it can be kept closed with certain commercially available tapes. Stitches may be needed for deep or large cuts.Professional medical assistance is needed under the following circumstances:If a cut is longer than about 1/3 inch, is on the face, appears deep, or has edges that separate
If bleeding does not stop within several minutes or after pressure is applied
If there are symptoms of a nerve or tendon injury
If a scrape is deep or has dirt and particles that are difficult to remove
If there is a puncture wound, particularly if a foreign object in the wound is likely
If the person has not had a tetanus vaccination within the past 5 years.
All wounds, whether treated at home or by medical professionals, should be observed for symptoms of infection during the first several days after treatment. If any symptoms of infection develop, professional medical assistance should be sought within several hours. Most small wounds heal within a few days.
___________The excerpt above is from the source below...consider tweezing during her sleep...if home remedy is necessary.
Take her to the hospital or doctor immediatly! You have already waited to long. The very fact that the injury has become swollen tells me that infection has started to set in.In addition to having the piece of toothpick cut out, she is going to need an anti-tet shot to prevent lock-jaw.Go NOW!Look after yourself and be safe
http://www.moms-home-safety.com...
the salt method works best. Also baking soda paste. peroxide can sometimes help. I have also heard that the splinter may eventually work iteslf out. But if it becomes red swollen or painful and she has a fever see a doctor right away

Home remedys for minor burns?

I just burned the inside of two of my fingers (pointer %26 middle) Not bad enough to go to the doctor I don't think. Just hurts like hell...
Answer:
Once you've iced it, keep it moist, covered, and elevated. Vaseline works great to keep the area moist. Moisture hastens the healing process. Blistering is a defensive mechanism the body uses to cushion and protect wounds. Do not drain the blister. Covering the burn will both help to keep the area moist and protect against infection. Keeping your hand elevated above your heart will reduce swelling and ease pain. You should get some antibacterial ointment (Neosporin, Betadyn, etc.) and waterproof bandages to continue treatment. The blister will likely pop after a few days, which should be fine.Avoid things like butter or other food items, as they can contribute to bacterial infection.
quit smoking
Put white vinager on it, it will take the sting away on contact...and if you don't have vinager try dill pickles. I know it sounds crazy, but it works.
aloe vera is the next best thing.
There is an ointmnet called RMA by Vibrant Health(I think that is the name). It is great for cuts, burns, scars %26 stretchmarks.
aloe vera..a plant works ok or many ladies creams have aloe in them ...its the best
Cut an aloe vera leaf and squeeze juice on it.
mustard
baking soda and water- make a paste out of it -should help.
White vinegar or aloe vera even butter works !!
aloe
Here are some Facts :After a burn, the very first thing that you should do is to reduce the temperature of the burnt area. Put lots of chilled water or dip that body part into chilled water for 15 to 30 minutes. Apply honey to the wound once you have washed the wound properly. It will prevent infection and will heal the wound. Papaya contains enzymes that help to remove dead cells from the wound. Aloe Vera is good for treating burns. Cut some fresh aloe Vera leaves and put it on the burnt area.Once the wound starts healing, break a capsule of vitamin E and pour the liquid on it. This will prevent scarring. Applying lavender oil is also found to be effective for burns. Diet plays a very important role in the healing process. To speed up the recovery, burns patients must consume a high protein and calorie diet. Skin burn causes a loss of substantial percentage of micronutrients, such as copper, selenium, and zinc. This slows the healing process and also increases the risk of infection. Some of the vitamins important for the recovery are Vitamin B complex, Vitamin C, Glutamine, Arginine, copper, zinc, Selenium etc.

Home Remedies for Helping Burns Heal Faster?

Earlier this week, my sister suffered a small but severe chemical burn. It's about 4"x6" and is composed of 2nd and 3rd degree burns on her upper thigh. She's been to the hospital, and they've put her on pain killers and antibiotics. Unfortunately, she's a slow healer and we're worried if she doesn't heal fast enough she'll have to get a skin graft, which would just cause more pain and scarring. So I'm wondering, does anyone know of any herbal/home remedies to help speed the healing? Anything she can take or put on the wound would be great.
Answer:
The best treatment I have ever found for burns is ALOE. If you can get the plant just cut off a leaf and slice lengthwise across the width. The inside of the leaf is very sappy and juicy. Lay that juicy side on the burn and tie it so it stays there. Change the leaf out when it starts to dry out. The healing power of the plant is tremendous. I've seen some real bad burns that didn't even leave a scar when treated with the Aloe. Good Luck.
Mmmmmm, starch from a raw cleaned and cut potatoe are good.
So i heard.
aloe gel is pretty good.
Don't let it be wrapped up all the time either, let the wound breathe.
noy really just apply hydrocortisone cream and keep it clean wont hurt to let air hit every now and then
didn't they give her some salve to put on it? Burns are terribly painful. Call the doc and get some . If she has actual 2n and 3rd degree burns, anything you put on could cause infection.
Colloidal Silver is the best thing I have ever seen for burns! Promotes really quick healing. You just spray it directly onto the burn and let it soak in.You can purchase CS in health food stores for around $7 per ounce, and sometimes the larger bottles cost less per ounce. I make my own for less than $1 per gallon!!
The two best herbs for burns are comfrey and aloe. Probably the most effective would be a comfrey salve. Here links to comfrey salve and detailed comfrey info:

Home health care?

I am staying living with a family that is taking care of there grandmother. the wife of the family is doing most of the work taking care of her mother in law. the mother in law is partially paralyised on her left side because of a stroke. the wife has a bad back and should not be taking all the work load in caring for her but she is because she is a kind harted person. I have a friend who is going to college for nursing and works part time in a nursing home. they are thinking about hiring her for summer to help take care of the gandmother. what would be a good wage to pay her. thanks
Answer:
the better you pay, the better the service is.
I would start 11/hr for 90 days, if performance is good, raise to 12/hr. your friend will probably be very happy with that, and do a better job. taking care of elderly is very hard and demanding.
Around 8-9 dollars an hour.
I do the same work for $10.00 a hour, but that is in California. You need to find out what is the minimum in your state/town and come to a agreeable amount.
home care workers get around $10 per hour, some pay as much at $12 per hour.
since she's not yet a professional nurse..
you can give her the minimum wage...
but if you think she deserves more than that because of her performance..
why not increase it...

Hmmm wats wrong?

at work my co worker dropped a pallet of boxed paper down 20 fifty pound boxes on it and it caught my pinky toe like in my shoe. i couldnt get my shoe out my co worker lifted the pallet and i got my foot out. and now my pinky toe and ankle hurt. even all the way to my knee but mostly my ankle. but why would my anle hurt|? my toe doesnt even really hurt. today the next day it doesnt hurt as much but i never used it, my foot is swollen and no discoloration. it is fairly cold too. i can walk on it it hurts but not so i cant walk. i do limp though. any guesses at what could be wrong. i know it not fractured or broken cuz i can walk and wiggle my toes. it is bruised now too.
Answer:
You actually can have a fracture (broken bone) and still be able to walk as other bones are helping out. Your foot contains alot of bones and they attach to each other by ligaments and nerves which is why different areas might hurt from the actual site. You could have a very bad hematoma (a bruise) which is bleeding into tissue. This will also take a while to heal. Fractures can only be diagnosed by an Xray or someone who knows what to feel for. You need to ice it and not put weight on it at all and elevate. If pain gets worse or persists then you need to be examined.
DONT WORRY, put cold compress up to tomorrow, then hot compress, it will ok upto 2 weeks, if u can walk, no problem.best answer?

Hit my head i have ice on it...?

I hit my head off my door (Long Story) but anyways its a small bump with a scrach and i feel fine...i have ice on it...but my question is.will it go down by tommorow morning even if i don't have ice on it?...does ice even really help?
Answer:
Ice really does help
Yes, it does help. It will keep the swelling down. Don't use it and see how big that lump gets.
Yes the ice helps keep down the swelling, and it will swell much less if you apply it than if you don't. If it will be gone by tomorrow depends on how much it swells today. Like as not, there will still be a small and very sore lump, but it shouldn't be so noticeable as it is right now. Incidently, frozen peas or corn work better than lumps of ice, as they conform better to the curves and bumps of the body. But ice will work just fine if that's all you have. At least it was your head and not your mouth or nose. Those don't go down in a day.
ice is for the swelling ;)
Ice helps to reduce/minimize the swelling. Generally, ice up to 15-20 minutes at a time. There is going to be some swelling in the morning, but there would be a lot more swelling if you didn't ice it at all. Sounds like you have my kind of luck! lol

Hit elbow, now it is painfull and tingly?

My co-worker hit his elbow a few hours ago and now it is still tingly, and quite painful. what did he do, and how can he fix it?
Answer:
He just hit a nerve, he should keep moving it around, tell the big baby he'll be okay.
Thanks for waiting for me to answer the other question before giving someone else best answer.
Well there are a lot of nerves and such in you elbow and by hitting it he hit the nerve. it could be just that or he may have broken or chiped his elbow. If the pain is that bad he should go see a doctor
Uh, see a doctor.
honestly, i would stretch out the arm. it is quite possible he jammed his elbow, so he might have to stretch it a little to make it go back to normal
he probably fractured his funny bone.yes, you can do that, even though it is a nerve.
he probably hit his funny bone. pour windex on it, it will take away the tingles and jingles.
He could have hit a nerve and that is why it is tingly since it has only been a few hrs it is not going to stop hurting just yet-depending on how hard he hit it it can remain sore for a few days as it can be bruised on the inside even if he doesnt have one that is visible... he can put an icepack on it and take a pain reliever -bayer or tynenol etc-these things take a bit of time to feel better and there really isnt much else to do for them
I do that all the time. If it's bent a certain way when I hit it, it tingles and hurts all the way down to the tips of my fingers! It hurts for a while and feels pretty sore, but it eventually goes away. All you have to do is give it time. Take it easy, for sure! Hope this helps!
LOL...That's called the funny bone, aka the ulnar nerve.
It's possible to bruise it and have it be a bother for quite a while.
Fixes - Rub the elbow a little and alternate hot and cold packs.
Ouch! It will be a bit sensitive but he'll be fine tomorrow.
When you smack your elbow, you hit nerves causing it to feel tingly..give it time it will go away on its own.

Hips hurting at 24?

I've been exercising mildly (walking 1h a day, flat land, moderate pace), and although I have no muscle pain, my hips feel like they're burning. It's been like this for 3 weeks, after I jumped for volleyball. After landing, my hip hurt. And yes, I am dead sure it's not muscle pain, I've stretched everything, and I recognize muscle pain quite easily. I've taken advil a couple of times, but it still hurts.
Any ideas?
Answer:
i'm not really sure, but it might have just popped out of place a little, because i know that happened to me last year (and i'm 17) and i just went to the hospital and a doctor popped it back in place. but it's not really a big deal if that's the case. it might've happened when you landed on it. good luck!
Well this seems serious enough to be looked into! Why? Because it is bothering you a lot. That is why!Call you family doctor and make an appointment. Check and see if Osteoporosis runs in your family? It does not matter if you are male or female 24 or 54. When something hurts more than a few times it should be checked into. Especially when you are working so hard to keep healthy and your body good shape. Good Luck!

Hip/lower back pains while running?

hi im 16 and currently in track my hip pains started while i was running the curve for the 200 and it was my inside(left) hip started hurting and after awhile running with this at first small pain i noticed it getting worst as i competed in meets and it hurts alot right above my left butt and lower back
i also noticed a small bulge of bone below my lower back that sticks out pain gets worst as i slouch while sitting or bend over to tie my shoes
and soon after awhile my right one started hurting this one on the front and the side as well as the back area but the pain wasnt as intense as the left sideits been about 2 months with my hips messed up
is this something i should get checked or do u think it will heal up after couple weeks of rest?does anyone what kind of injury this is and if it is serious?
Answer:
It's obviously impossible to make an accurate diagnosis from the little bit of information you offered. However, my best clinical judgement is iliotibial band syndrome. It is a common injury of the lateral aspect of the knee particularly in runners, cyclists and endurance sports. It is regarded as a friction syndrome where the iliotibial band rubs against (and 'rolls over') the lateral femoral epicondyle (an outside part of the knee). The iliotibial band is a thickened part of the tissue on the outside portion of your thigh, from the hip down to just below the knee. Running on a curve, especially a banked curve (even slightly banked) causes the biomechanics of the leg to stretch that outer portion. Commonly, improper shoes can contribute. It is not a serious injury and will usually resolve with rest. To stay in shape, you can still run, but only at about 50% effort and on flat, straight runs. There are stretches you can start to do once the inflammation and pain has subsided. Here's a website that shows a good stretch.
http://www.rice.edu/~jenky/sports/itband...This is only one of the possible problems, but very common considering your history of running on curves on the track. A good chiropractor or sports physician should be able to properly diagnose your particular situation.
Hope that helps!
Dr. Chris Foster, DC
Yes Mike, this is something that you should get checked immediately, preferably by a doctor specializing in sports medicine. The school can recommend a specialist. It sounds like a back injury and it can be serious. I hope that you get great treatment and are pain free soon.

Hip problem?

im pretty active 21 year old male who has done alot of sports like kickboxing skateboding bmx racing and used to run quite a bit latly my left hip joint has had pain its not a treeible pain just uncomfortable streching seems to help but only a minor amout it comes and goes any suggestions on traetment or the possible problem i also am traing in bodybuilding and it recently strted alittle in my other side
Answer:
nick you most likely over did a muscle or a ligament. for starters, if there is no other medical problems known, you can take ibuprofen 200 mg pills (available over the counter) about three of those at a time every 6-8 hours as needed. be careful not to take those on an empty stomach, always take them with food or a snack. Do not take things like aspirin, naproxen etc with it. You can take tylenol/panadol.acetamenophin. Safe practice is to consult the pharmacist for any new medicine and let them know what else you are taking. I would strongly suggest to see a physician if symptoms were to persist or worsen or if any new symptoms develope, good luck

HIP pain, some Advice please!?

Hi there,
do you know how sometimes when you walk and your hip suddenly moves in a wrong way, and then you feel a sharp instant pain? I cannot fully describe this but I hope you understand what I am saying. My problem is, I feel this pain almost every time I walk, and recently its becoming more painful, and I constantly have to watch the way I walk or walk in a very funny way to prevent this pain from coming. I cannot predict it, but its quite annoying. radom strangers probably think I am crazy when they see my face twitch with immediate pain. Does anyone know why this happens frequently? What am I doing wrong, and what can I do to stop it? I am young and very slim, but I don't know if maybe my lack of exercise may be the problem. Should I see a doctor? I hate going to hospitals!
Answer:
I know exactly what the problem is, as I have been making those faces for a couple of years now! :( Believe it or not, it is not so much your hip itself. It is your Sciatic Nerve. More than likely you have a ruptured disc. When a lower lumbar disc ruptures, alot of times it will rest against the Sciatic Nerve. This kind of "injury" causes alot of displaced pain.I must say that in a previous answer I saw that someone suggested that you visit a Chiropractor, I'm sure they meant well, but please don't go. I had a hard time believing at first that there was nothing wrong with my hip when I first went to the doctor, so I'm sure that you have doubt about what I say, I don't blame you, but I promise, I have the EXACT same thing.I see that you hate to go to hospitals, but if you don't go soon you run the risk of permanent damage to your nerve. I have permanent damage now and have become a chronic pain patient because of it, and Osteoarthritis. I waited so long to go that I had to have surgery. This condition does not heal itself, but can be taken care of in several different ways before surgery would become necessary.
Good Luck to You, I know it causes you alot of pain. :(
Go to a chiropractor, your hip is out of place.
yes go to the doctor there is something really wrong with your hip its not normal maybe you fell on it a while back a you have fractured it just go to the doctor you dont want to keep putting up with this pain
Go to a good chiropractor. I dont get why this is always the last place people look for help but it shouldn't be. Go soon and get rid of that pain.

Hip pain help?

Has anyone ever experinced this before? I have been having this pain in my right hip for like 3 weeks. It feels like it is bruised when you touch my hip bone. Well the pain is getting worse and actually coming around to the front part of my hip. Now today. I have pain like by my ovaries. It hurts so bad that I cant walk on it! has this ever happend to anyone before? Or maybe someone knows what is in that area that is causing me so much pain?
Answer:
This sounds like inflammation at the hip joint. All of your descriptions indicate this. You need to see a chiropractor as soon as possible to get professional help. I've enclosed a link where you can find a chiropractor in your area. A deep tissue massage can also eliminate the inflammation that's occurring. your best bet is getting to someone who works physically on the body.
Yes, I have that pain, it is usually from your spine, you may have a pinched nerve, you don't feel the pain in your spine but you feel it in your hip, that is called referred pain, you should see a physiotherapist. They can find out also that it could be arthritis in the hips.
Yes, i have the same pain ....BUT i just had a total hip replacement in Jan. 07 and they said that it would hurt in the "groin" area. It's like i'm having spasms in my tubes or uterus? I also have severe scoliosis and by this time i have given up on trying to pinpoint which one it is.my hip or my spine???? GO SEE AN ORTHO doc. and get an MRI!!!! good luck!!!
It looks like a lumbar compression by your symptoms. Take Colocynthis 200 homeopathic pills - 4 pills 4 times a day.
Apply Arnica mother tincture on the affected part with a cotton ball about 4-5 times a day.
Hot water fomentation helps.
Avoid wearing high heels. It may be sciatica.
Get yourself X-rayed.

Hip pain after playing basketball?

I am 19 and recently started playing basketball again. Just pick-up games that are pretty competitive. When I am actually playing, I feel fine but, when I stop and start to cool down, I have a sharp pain in my hip that feels like it is on the bone (i think it might be a tendon that is hurting). Is it just because I wasn't really used to the lateral movement that basketball entails? or could something else be wrong?
Answer:
I don't like to answer this type of medical question,
You describe pains, thay may be caused by something else somewhere else, and you receive advice from people who are not qualified, and may cause more dammage, if there is dammage.
Play safe rather, go and consult a docter !
start taking glucosemine with condroiton. You are awful young to really need it but i have known people in their 20's that have needed it. It helps rebuild the friction surface in your joints. Taken regulary it should start to make a differance in about 2 weeks.

Hip Labral Tear.. Some Suggested Therapy?

Hello! I suspect that I have a hip labral tear. I am a 34 year-old female in moderately good health, but in bad physical shape (ie I don't get much exercise). No other health problems to speak of. I recently moved to a house with steep stairs. About a week after the move, I began experiencing a "pop" or "click" in my left hip. I experience mild pain when the leg is at a 45 degree angle. I can walk on it, but there is always a slight discomfort. I would like to avoid a doctor's visit by doing some at home physical therapy. Could anyone give me any advice or point me to some imformation that might be helpful?
Answer:
Billie has a good point about inflammation...many people with possible labral tears will just lay low for awhile and then as the inflammatory process subsides, it might never be an issue again. Most people with tears in the labrum have them at the most anterior (front) portion of the labrum. If faulty mechanics are causing the head of the femur to ride along the portion that is torn, this can cause signficant pain. Therefore, most physical therapy aims to restore normal "arthrokinematics" of the joint as much as possible (the direction of rolling and gliding of the joint during the movement). Usually, this involves streching the posterior (back) portion of the capsule while avoiding streching the anterior portion. This might be done with a gentle progression of knee to chest stretch or internally rotating the hip (inward rotation) and bringing the knee across the body towards the opposite shoulder...both of these movements should promote stretching the posterior capsule. Do so with caution however, because forcing the joint too aggressively can aggrevate the condition. Therefore, I HIGHLY recommend to follow up with a physical therapist so you can learn which exercises are the best for you and how to approrpiately apply them. They can also address this with manual techniques and modalities for pain.
This could be inflammation of the hip joint. Climbing up and down stairs can cause over use of the muscle resulting in pain. I suggest cutting back on walking up and down the stairs as often. Take hot baths with 2c. of Epsom salts to help with the inflammation. I highly recommend you see a chiropractor as soon as possible. They're the best doctors for this type of problem. I've enclosed a link where you can find a chiropractor in your area.

Hip Dislocation?? PLEASE HELP!?

i was playing soccer and i took a huge swing at the ball and missed, immideatly i felt a huge pop in my right hip area. I immiedietly fell to the ground swearing. Right after i got up and walked to the sideline with a huge limp and my leg/hip really hurt and it was shaking. i just laid on the sideline for the rest of the game, when i stood up, it hurt just as much as it did before, and my limp was still as bad. Is this hip dislocation? What should i do about my problem. I am a 14 year old male(sorry about the spelling, im really rushed.) it is a dull pain when i sit down that never stops, and a sharp pain every time i move my right leg.
Answer:
No one can tell you for sure. You need to see a Dr.
I would visit the emergency room of you local hospital if I were you.
Go to the Emergency room- you may have torn your inside leg muscle, but I doubt your hip is dislocated. You would have to have your leg rotated outward or inward at an absurd angle to dislocate- Ice the area and go get an X-ray done. better safe than sorry! An RN

Answer:
It is a possible dislocation. I had something very similar happen to me just a couple months ago.I'm 15 years old. During a soccer game took a kick, felt a pop, went down, all the good stuff. Found out a couple days later that I had an avulsion fracture. They said it was a fairly common injury because of growth plates moving around and all that jazz. Definitely go see your Primary Care and they will get you some X-rays done. You may end up having to see an orthopaedist. They couldn't see my fracture on the X-ray because when they X-ray your hip they don't usually go that high up (it's really more of your pelvis). If it is in fact an avulsion fracture then you will probably just have to stay off the leg for a while, no soccer for at least 6 weeks probably 8 to be safe. The bright side is no casts or anything like that if the bone will settle back in place. If it keeps moving out of place you may have to have surgery.Good luck with the hip, and with the soccer

Hip dislocated after jogging?

I went jogging the other day, and my left hip felt like it's been dislocated. Anyway, it disappeared after a dew days. But then I went jogging again, and the pain came back. Do you know what's causing this? It's always on my left hip. Is the way I'm jogging wrong or something? Like I'm putting too much stress on my left foot?
Answer:
Your hip is not dislocated, the muscles have been over used and that's what's causing the pain. Jogging is one of the hardest things on the joints of the body. You would be better off to do water exercises and swimming. This has no impact on the joints. A good massage therapist could take down the pain from the spasms and inflammation in your hip. also a chiropractor can help your problem. I've enclosed a link where you can find a chiropractor in your area. I'm sure if you cut back on your exercises and see a good physical therapist you will feel better.

Hip and leg pain..Help??

Im a 43 year old with unbearable pain in my hips all the way down to the calfs of my legs. I have been on hydrocodone for almost a year for other health problems which involve pain. My legs hurt almost 24/7. I did try to stop taking the pain pills and was given methodone for 1 week. it has now been one week since i took it and am back at the pain pills. Do you think the pain is withdrawl from methodone or is there something wrong with my hip and legs. It is so painful it hurts to walk, sit or even when I lay down. The pain is always there. I mean it hurts to the bone!! I noticed the pain when I got off the pills, thought it was from not taking them, than when I started taking them again I still have the pain? What is goin on here..I do have a appointment to see doc. next week!!
Answer:
Sorry about the pain. I was concerned when I read this. Make sure you talk with your doctor, it might be something small and I don't want to scare you but my brother ( who was 53 years old ) had hip %26 leg pain %26 was being treated for arthritis in his hip. After several MRI"S It turned out to be Sarcoma, a type of cancer in his leg muscle. He lost his battle after 7 months so be sure to talk to your doctor about anything that seems out of the ordinary. I wish you the best.
have you been diagnosed with sciatica? If the pain pills aren't working you need to see a pain management doctor. Have you considered having surgery? it may be an option. good luck.
You probably have a pinched nerve in your back, which causes excrutiating pain from your hip to your feet. I have the same problem and I have been on Vicodin and percocet for over 2yrs for this problem.I have more then one herniated disc and yes it is hard to walk, stand sit or lay and to bend over impossible.I hope you end up seeing a specialist, sometimes a chiropracter can help if it's not to severe. I have been there and physical theropy, epidural steriod injections non of which helped. So I wish you luck and pray you have a darn good Doctor.
This very much sounds like sciatica pain. the pain is not from stopping the drugs. This is a nerve problem that affects the muscles as well. The best treatment to stop this pain is deep therapy massage. you will feel better after the first massage. You may have to do this on a regular basis. I find there is far more pain relief in physical therapy then with drugs. Another treatment is to see a chiropractor. They specialize in sciatic treatment. I've enclosed a link where you can find a chiropractor in your area.
Well, from experience I have the same thing. Have done the hydro thing and the methadone thing. It's a nerve problem and you probably didn't notice it as bad on the hydro's because you as they say were feeling no pain !! Well a sign of withdraws is leg cramps but not the type you are describing. It does make you feel like your going nuts because nothing is comfortable! Hang in there! If you go to the doctor they can get your meds adjusted to where they will help! There is no cure other than surgery so you will either take meds for the rest of your life or go through with the surgery! Try to remember there are others of us going through what you are !! I did not know whether I was nuts, addicted to the hydros, or having severe pain!! Turns out we aren't at all nuts! You just have to get your meds corrected and you'll feel better but never completely pain free! There will always be an uncomfortable sensation there! I hope this helped you some! IT IS A TRUE MEDICAL CONDITION! (sciatica)
I had pulled a muscle in my butt and it formed a small painfull swelling in that area (Piriformis Muscle). It also put pressure on my Sciatic Nerve (trapping the nerve between 2 muscles). I had pain shooting from my lower back down the back of my left leg to my big toe. I could barely stand, walk, sit, laydown, sleep, get up or even staighten up for that matter for about a month. Thinking that the spine was causing the Sciatica problem and I could not afford any more Chyropractic Treatments. So I did similar to what they did in the old days (Dr's used to put people in Traction in a hospital bed) and stretched my spine and neck with 2 simple ropes and the use of my bedroom door and a door stopper under the halfway opened door. I also was suffering from Fibromyalgia for the past 12 years. Pain all over my body was the usual for me. Thinking that as I hang from these ropes draped over the top edge of the door my spine and neck vertebrae will be pulled apart and finally grow apart with time, untrapping the nerves. I also asked myself if this will cause my muscles and ligaments to form scar tissue and also form inflamation, squeezing the nerves of my spine even more. This swelling could squeeze or trap all the nerves coming from my lower spine and mid back and neck area. To avoid this happening I applied Teatree Oil 2 times daily to my injured butt and from my tail bone up my spine to about 1 inch above the spine where my skull starts and over all my shoulders and chest area. Teetree oil is a Powerful Natural Antibiotic and a Natural Antinflamatory (about $10 to $12 a bottle). In 4 days I was pain free. The Scyatica gone. The lump in my butt muscle gone. The Fibromyalgia pains with severe headaches (migraines) gone. I still continue this treatment which take only a few minutes a day to stretch. Do not apply the Teatree Oil for more than 2 weeks in any duration. Give a 2 week break and apply again for 2 weeks. Apply the Teatree Oil twice a month after that, as you keep doing the stretching (stretch once when you arise and once just before you retire). Get into bed immediately to let your spine heal in an open position. This method should repair most all back and neck problems naturally. Not many expences involved either.Thank you for asking! This may seem confusing.
You may write me for more information!
I have found an all natural juice that has allowed me to be pain-free for over 9 months. It is called xango and is made from the mangosteen fruit grown in the tropical rain forrests of Southeast Asia. Will be glad to send you more information it if you will email me at jcee1229@yahoo.com. Please put "Xango" in the subject line. This juice really works.

High sed. rate?

5 or 6 years ago I woke up and was bearly able to move, it took 2 hours to get out of bed. My back, hips, knees, wrists, kneck and everything hurt tremendously. I went to the ER and tested positive for the lupus factor, had a false positive reading on lyme disease and had a rheumatoid factor show positive. Ever since I've been to doctors trying to figure out what's going. Since then I've been tested twice for lupus and both have shown negative. I've had another false positive reading for lyme disease. They have absolutely no idea what has been going on. Everytime I get tested I have an extremely high sed. rate. So they know something is going on, especially since most of the time my body just aches and it's hard to walk at times. I've had tons of tests to figure out what's going on but they just can't figure it out..what are the most causes for high sed. rate? I've had one doctor say he thought it was lupus then he transferred and now this guy says he doesn't think so..
Answer:
Ask to see a Rheumatologist. It may be Rheumatoid Arthritis, MS, or Lupus or many other Auto-immune disorder. Sed Rate can be high with injuries, and infections so make sure you see a specialist to rule out serious conditions.
